Sailing into the night

The Captain gave us a briefing. We were assigned watches 4 hours during daylight and then 3 through the night (Swedish system?) two of us on each watch.  Philippe is big on safety and we all wore harnesses and kept strapped on at night.    The wind finally came up and we cruised at around 5.5 knots in less than 7 knots of wind. Heeled at 10 degrees and cutting a sleek line through calm seas with a full moon behind us, distant thunder storms (we could smell them) and just the sound of the autopilot pinging.
